The PM said that the government had already increased the minimum wage of workers from Rs17,500 to Rs25,000 per month, considering the high inflation rates and economic challenges. The government is also aiming to develop automated, integrated systems for workers’ welfare institutions to ensure transparency and provide relief to labourers and workers without delay.
Meanwhile, President Dr Arif Alvi highlighted the need to protect the rights of labourers and workers by strictly enforcing labour laws and providing them with modern skill sets. He hoped that federal and provincial governments would work together to ensure the welfare of workers and provide them with marketable skills.
The President urged workers to play their role in making Pakistan economically stronger and employers to ensure the protection of workers’ rights and work for their welfare. He concluded that the labour force is the backbone of Pakistan’s economy, and its cooperation with employers is essential for industrial efficiency that ultimately leads to socio-economic uplift of the country.
