President Arif Alvi removes Shaukat Siddiqui as IHC judge


Acting upon the recommendation of the Supreme Judicial Council, President Arif Alvi has removed Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui from the post of Islamabad High Court (IHC) judge.

An official notification, issued by Law and Justice Ministry on Thursday, said, “Consequent upon proceedings under Article 209(5) and recommendations of the Supreme Judicial Council of Pakistan under Article 209(6) read with Article 48(1) of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, 1973, the President of Pakistan removed IHC Judge Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui, from his office with immediate effect.”

Earlier, the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) had unanimously recommended the removal of Islamabad High Court (IHC) Judge Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui. The senior IHC judge had levelled serious allegations on the intelligence agencies for interfering and ‘managing’ judicial affairs.
