Massive Internet Outage Hits Pakistan as Internet Services are Down Across all Major Cities
August 19, 2022: A major internet outage is reported in Pakistan on Friday as PTCL, Telenor, Ufone, and stormfiber internet services are down in all major cities of Pakistan due to technical faults. Only jazz network is working.
The users are facing internet down in all cities of Pakistan including Lahore, Islamabad, Karachi, Peshawar, and Faisalabad, which began at 7 AM. According to Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, the data networking issue is observed in all South and North regions.
PTCL confirmed that its “optical fiber network is experiencing some technical faults” due to the heavy rains and floods. The authority further stated that the issue is being monitored and investigated however further details will be shared soon with the users. All other telecom operators in Pakistan also confirmed the issue.
Due to social media and internet blackout, many businesses are getting affected. However, Jazz Network act quickly and restore the internet services for their users. PTCL and all other networks are still under internet outage.
As the internet down in Pakistan began at 7 AM, it has caused slow or no browsing, disturbing many industries. Earlier, internet services were interrupted in Pakistan in May 2022 and February 2022 backed by the excuse that Internet Provider Transworld was facing issues in undersea cables.
