Imran Khan’s Nomination Papers Rejected for Faisalabad NA-108

August 18, 2022: Chairman PTI Imran Khan’s nomination papers to contest NA-108 Faisalabad have been rejected by Returning Officer due to unsatisfactory information regarding liabilities and assets.

The returning officer for the by-poll in the NA-108 Irfan Kausar has rejected the nomination papers submitted by Chairman PTI Imran Khan, as per reports. However, the reason behind rejection is unsatisfactory information and response about Imran Khan’s assets mentioned in Form B.

It is important to note that Khan has submitted his nomination papers on 9 NA seats including NA-22 Mardan, NA-24 Charsadda, NA-31 Peshawar, NA-45 Kurram, NA-108 Faisalabad, NA-118 Nankana, NA-237 Malir, NA-239 Korangi, and NA-246 Karachi’s district south. However, NA-108 election commissioner rejected the nomination paper after not getting satisfactory answers about Khan’s assets. The nomination papers of Imran Khan have been accepted in all other 8 constituencies.

For the scrutiny of the nomination papers, Khan has issued a notice to appear before the returning officer regarding unsatisfactory information on assets and discrepancy in signatures but he did not appear.

PTI leader Farrukh Habib stated that RO has rejected the papers in NA-108 without any appropriate reason or justification while the same papers were submitted in the other 8 constituencies.

According to the rules and schedule issued by ECP, the former Prime Minister can appeal in the Appellate Tribunal of the High Court against the nomination paper rejection till August 20.

The by-polls would be held on September 25, 2022, as announced by the Election Commission of Pakistan after the resignation of 11 PTI MNAs from the National Assembly.
