IHC on Tuesday issued a show-cause notice to Former Prime Minister Imran Khan in a contempt of court case asking him to appear before the court on August 31, 2022.
IHC initiated contempt of court proceedings against Imran Khan for threatening female additional session judge, Zeba Chaudhry during his address to the nation in a protest rally.
The court summoned Khan to appear personally in front of the bench on August 31 while sending him a show-cause notice under Sector 17. The matter will now be heard by a panel of more than three judges.
The show cause notice was issued to Khan by the three-member IHC bench, formed on Tuesday to hear the contempt case filed against him. The panel was comprised of Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, Justice Miangul Hassan, and Justice Babar Sattar.
During today’s hearing, Islamabad Advocate General Jahangir Khan Jadoonquotes Imran Khan’s controversial remarks against the female additional session judge. “Imran Khan said, ‘Zeba Sahiba, you should be ashamed, we will take action against you too.”
Referring to the controversial and threatening remarks to Imran Khan against the female judge, Justice Kiyani said, “such remarks could not be expected from a former prime minister”. He added, “An attempt was made to disrespect our judiciary. Even courts do not interfere in investigations. A female judge was threatened. Work cannot be done in such atmosphere.”
