August 22, 2022: Islamabad High court has rejected the pre-arrest bail of Former Prime Minister Imran Khan in a terror case, raising three objections.
Former Prime Minister Imran Khan decided to approach the court to seek immunity against his arrest under the case of terrorism charges after he gave a speech on 20 August 2022 during a protest rally. A terrorism case was filed against him on August 21, 2022 by Federal Government under Anti-terror Act for threatening Judiciary and police officials.
After FIR, Islamabad police ordered to arrest Khan after which Police deployed around Bani Gala. However, Imran Khan files a pre-arrest bail appeal in IHC to avoid arrest. In a petition, it is stated that Khan is ready to be investigated when the court says in the case of terrorism.
The plea further stated that Imran Khan has no criminal record. PTI lawyers Babar Awan and Faisal Chaudhry filed the plea on behalf of Khan. As per the reports, IHC rejects the first appeal of Imran Khan’s pre-arrest bail under three objections.
- Imran Khan did not provide a verified copy of the terror case
- He approached IHC instead of ATC court
- He did not undergo biometric verification before filing the petition
As per resources, the Interior Ministry has asked for written permission from Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif to arrest Imran Khan. However, former President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari condemns Imran Khan’s arrest claiming that it will create political chaos.
